Zora’s is a refreshing change from the plethora of taco joints, faux Thai restaurants and bars, bars, bars that are gradually replacing previous eclectic, more interesting establishments on 9th Ave. in Hells Kitchen.
This is genuine soul food served with care and love in a tiny, unpretentious space. Owners Linda and Zora give customers the gift of family recipes handed down through generations.
I recommend the deviled eggs, fried chicken (oh yes!), oxtail stew and especially the outstanding made-from-scratch lemonade, both regular and alcohol versions. And the cornbread! oh mercy is it fine!
